Academic Calvin
I hold a PhD in Communication, Rhetoric, & Digital Media from NC State University, and I am currently a Senior Lecturer in the English department at Ohio State University, where I teach courses on business writing, emerging digital media, video games, and monsters (right?!).
My research is interdisciplinary by design and fuses writing studies, media theory, and critical making, and as an intructor I seek to construct environments where students develop the ability to synthesize information of all types and effectively engage their target audience(s).
My most recent academic article, "Hypertext and Its Afterlives," can be found here (open access); it is a reworking of the first chapter in my dissertation, The Medium is the Monster: Frankenstein in[g] Electronic Literature and Digital Humanities, can be found here (also open access).
Below you'll find a sample of my digital projects and an academic portfolio, which includes (in the following order):
I. Curriculum Vitae
II. Research & Teaching Statements
III. Courses Taught
IV. Sample Syllabi
V. Course Evaluations
If you have a tenure-track position you're not using, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. In the meantime, I'm happy to nerd out about any and all of these things. Reach out any time.
