Calvin Olsen is an internationally-published poet and translator originally from Meridian, Idaho. His work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best New Poets, and he recently published his first piece of creative nonfiction in the University of Iowa's patchwork.
Calvin is currently a doctoral student in the Communication, Rhetoric, & Digital Media at NC State University and a research and instruction fellow in the brand-new Hill Library Innovation Studio. His research interests lie at the intersections of electronic literature, visual/bodily rhetoric, the medical humanities, and all things Frankenstein (to name a few). Prior to his current teaching appointments in NC State's First Year- and Professional Writing programs, he taught English, composition, creative writing, and comparative literature at Boston University, Bunker Hill Community College, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. In addition to his teaching, Calvin has also worked in a handful of editorial positions, the most recent of which was at The Carolina Quarterly, where he was Poetry Editor from 2016–2020.
